Verniflam® AITHON PV33 – Transparent and matt intumescent varnish
Exclusively used with the Verniflam® AITHON F3 or Verniflam® AITHON F3A topcoat, Verniflam® AITHONPV33 intumescent is an aqueous fire-retardant protective coating for the fire classification of wood and wood-based materials, inside EPRs, on areas such as walls or ceilings, which are not subject to mechanical stress. Verniflam® AITHON PV33 is not suitable for floors or stairs, for example.
Translucent, colourless (non-yellowing) and is also suitable for improving the fire resistance of wooden elements.
Any application of a varnish must be tested beforehand to verify compatibility with the substrate.
To date, the reaction to fire documents for Verniflam® AITHON PV33 relate only to use with Verniflam® AITHON F3, Verniflam® AITHON F3A or a non-downgrading topcoat as a topcoat as described in the Classification Reports.

Verniflam® AITHON PV33 intumescent is a clear, water-based transparent flame retardant protective coating that forms an intumescent thermal insulation layer when heated. It delays the spread of fire and reduces the flammability of wood and wood products. It is also a non-downgrading solution.
Verniflam® AITHON PV33 can only be used in combination with Verniflam® AITHON F3 or Verniflam® AITHON F3A Top-Coat.
With a certain grammage, the fire resistance of the elements is also improved.
Verniflam® AITHON PV33 intumescent underlines the aesthetics and interior architecture of timber constructions and thus offers architects and builders an attractive solution.
Fire behaviour
Reaction to fire:
- Classified B-s1,d0 according to EN 13501-1.
- Classification report n° 18-RC-33 to the FCBA.
- Classified C-s1,d0 according to the EN13501-1 standard
- Classification report n° 19-RC-57 to the FCBA
Fire resistance:
- Gives resistance from R15 to R60 according to ENV 13381-7 and EN 13501-2 standards.
- FIRES classification report n° CR-059-13.
