Fire Retardant Treatment for Wool Used in a Botanical Mural at the Cité des Sciences

This past spring, we had the pleasure of collaborating with Studio Sovaje. Based in Nantes, this workshop specializes in creating custom rugs and tapestries—it’s a 100% local business!

Protecflam Industries treated no less than 60 kg of wool, in the form of skeins, to enable the creation of a custom-made plant mural for the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie in Paris. The 100% polyester canvas used as the backing was also treated.

Hydroflam® AP15, which has an M1 fire rating for wool, complies with passive fire safety regulations while preserving the natural appearance of the wool.
The AP15 can also be applied to all synthetic fibers. You can apply it yourself (all technical documentation is included with the solution) or have it applied at our facility.
