Avignon Festival and Fire Retardancy: Protecflam Ensures Set Safety

Every year, fire safety is a top priority at the Avignon Festival. The sets, which are sometimes monumental in scale or made of flammable materials, must be treated to comply with regulations regarding passive fire protection. It is in this context that Protecflam Industries has been providing its expertise in fire retardancy for several years.

In 2025, the Aéronde association and La Petite Compagnie turned to us for our solutions for the show *L’Amour Molière*. The set included bales of straw at the back of the stage, which required a specific fire-retardant treatment.

Our Hydroflam® BC11 product perfectly met this requirement. Designed for application to dry plant material, it is certified to M1 standards when used on compressed straw. Easy to use, each bale of straw is soaked on all sides before a necessary drying period. In addition to straw, BC11 can also be used to fire-retard corrugated cardboard, thereby providing an M1 fire reaction classification.

Thanks to this treatment, the performance was able to take place safely, in compliance with current standards.
